A 'Missing' Scene from Macbeth
(MACBETH steps into the King's chambers. DUNCAN lies in his bed, sleeping soundly)
MACBETH: O Mighty King, there thou slumbers knowing not
What shall happen to thee gracious, govern lord.
Be of great gratefulness thy pain of which thee shall
Feel will linger on but for a moment.
(DUNCAN awakes from his sleep and sees MACBETH)
DUNCAN: Why does thee hold crimson daggers in thy shaken hands?
Or are my woken, weary eyes deceiving
Me and this is but a darken, hellish dream?
MACBETH: (Quietly)
Aye, my lord, this is only a darken, hellish
Dream that thine woken, weary eyes have brung...
